A Pair of Suspects Charged for Prison Murder of Ex-Lostprophets Vocalist Ian Watkins

Two men have been formally charged with murder following the death in prison of former Lostprophets singer and convicted child sex offender Ian Watkins.

Samuel Dodsworth, 43, and Rashid Gedel, 25 have both been charged with murder and will appear before Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, per investigating officers.

Watkins, 48, was in the midst of a 29-year prison term at HMP Wakefield, alongside six more years under supervision, after confessing to numerous sex crimes including the effort to sexually assault an infant.

Watkins was arrested after the execution of a substance-related warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a significant quantity of computers, mobile phones and data storage units were taken as evidence.
